Classic American Chocolate Chip Cookies
The first time I tried these cookies was at a DoubleTree hotel where they offered them to guests upon arrival, freshly warmed, so that the chocolate chips were melty and the chocolate flavor was incredibly pronounced.
There is such a thing as love at first sight, and then there is love at first bite—this was the latter. 🥰
I've tried making these using various recipes, and right now, this one has become my favorite when I'm craving something crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
You can warm them up or eat them cold; either way, they are incredibly delicious. ☺️

Ingredients
- 150 g (2/3 cup) butter
- 250 g (1 1/4 cup) sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 280 g (2 1/4 cup) flour
- 5 g (1 teaspoon) baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 180 g (1 cup) chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)

Instructions
- Beat the butter with the sugar and salt, then add the egg and the yolk and beat again.

- Pour the flour mixed with baking powder into the butter mixture, add the chocolate chips or chopped chocolate, and knead the dough. The dough will be quite soft, but don't worry, there's no need to add more flour. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours (or longer if needed).

- Form balls from the dough, each weighing about 70 g (2.5 oz). Spread them on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving ample space between them as the cookies will spread significantly and grow larger during baking.

- Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 12-15 minutes. The cookies will remain light on top—that's how they should be. It's important not to overbake them to ensure that delightful chewy chocolate texture inside.
For fillings, you can use white, milk, or dark chocolate or chocolate chips. You can add any nuts, dried fruits and create a new flavor each time. The key is not to be afraid to experiment. 🤗
Enjoy! 💛
