Viennese Shortbread Cookies

Lately, I somehow haven’t had either the time or the energy for complicated baking, but I still want something sweet with my coffee 😉. I found a solution for myself. What can I say? These are tender, crumbly, moderately sweet, incredibly delicious cookies — a wonderful option when you want something tasty and don’t feel like spending a long time cooking.

Ingredients

  • 125 g soft butter
  • 25 g powdered sugar
  • 125 g flour
  • 25 g cornstarch
  • Vanilla extract or vanilla sugar
  • 2 g salt

Preparation

  1. Beat the softened butter with the powdered sugar until the mixture becomes fluffy and pale.

  2. Sift the flour and cornstarch into the butter mixture and mix well (you can use a mixer on low speed).

  3. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a nozzle. I recommend using the sturdiest bag possible, because the dough is quite firm and you don’t want it to burst (the first one I used did exactly that 😄). Pipe the cookies onto parchment paper.

  4. Bake at 180°C until lightly golden.

That’s it! You can lightly dust the finished cookies with powdered sugar and enjoy.

Bon appétit 🥰
